My first attempt for this cache was on a very cold and stormy day. I knew that the clouds were rolling in quickly and little time was left to find the cache. I gave up knowing I would be back. My second attempt to find this cache was a disaster. It was an early Saturday morning. It was hot and humid and the cache was supposed to be located in a swampy area of the park. I gave it everything! After about an hour of searching I finally emerged covered in mud, sweat and yuck. I gave up.
When I returned home I actually sent a message to the CO asking that they at least confirm that I was looking in the right place. The answer was helpful but didn’t leave me confident. After a few days I saw an update to the cache to learn that it indeed was gone! After all of that hard work, the mud, the briars, the yuck … it wasn’t there!
It seems that the CO was just as frustrated as I was as this was the second time the cache went missing. They actually moved the cache to a new location about 165 feet away. Tonight I was feeling confident and wanted to give it another try. Mind you I had a plan B in place just in case as I was not about to break my current daily streak over this dumb cache.
Fortunately I didn’t have to … My GPS took me right to it. Granted it still took me a couple of minutes as it was neatly tucked into this old tree. Feeling pretty good about this one.
